Punugulu/Punukulu  is a simple snack which comes in handy when there is left over idli batter or dosa batter.

   Coming to the recipe……


  1. Rice – 2 cups
  2. Urad dal – 1cup
  3. Onions – 2 medium
  4. Green chillies – 4
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Oil  for deep frying


  • Soak rice and urad dal for 6 hrs and grind it to a smooth thick batter.
  • Add salt,chopped onions,green chillies to this batter.
  • Heat oil in deep pan.
  • Take a tsp of batter and drop it into the hot oil.
  • Fry until golden brown and eat hot with any chutney or tomato sauce.


U can also make these punukulu with left over Idli/Dosa batter.
