Dondakaya/Tindoora fry


  Tindoora fry

This is a simple fry, favourite of all south indians made of Dondakayalu/Tindoora and this goes well with rice and sambar/rasam.



  1. Tindoora/Dondakayalu – 1lb

  2. Onions – 2

  3. Peanuts – 2tbsp

  4. Jeera – 1tsp

  5. Dry red chillies – 4

  6. Mustard seeds – 1tsp

  7. Curry leaves – few

  8. Oil – 1tsp

  9. Salt to taste


  • Wash and cut dondakayalu(gherkins) into thin round shapes.

  • Dry fry peanuts,red chillies and jeera and make a powder of them.

  • Take  oil in fry pan add mustard seeds , curry leaves and to this add gherkin pieces ,chopped onions,salt and cook till the gherkins become soft.

  • To this add the peanut powder,mix well and cook for another 5min.

  • This fry goes well with rice or roti.
