Cauliflower pickle

Cauliflower pickle is a temporary pickle which is simple to make and tastes great with curd rice.

Ingredients:

  1. Cauliflower florets - 2cups
  2. Red chilli powder -  2tsp
  3. Salt - 2tsp
  4. Garlic pods - 4
  5. Lemon juice - 3tsp
  6. Fenugreek seeds -2tsp(Dry roasted and ground)
  7. Oil - 4tsp

 Seasoning Ingredients:

  1. Chana dal - 1/4 tsp
  2. Urad dal - 1/4tsp
  3. Mustard seeds - 1/4tsp
  4. Curry leaves - 5

Method:

  • Soak cauliflower florets in hot water for 15min.
  •  Remove the florets from water and to this add lemon juice  and salt and leave it for 30min.
  • Heat oil in pan add the seasoning ingredients, after the mustard starts spluttering add garlic pods and remove from heat.
  • Add the seasoning ingredients to the cauliflower florets(marinated in lemon juice and salt) along with fenugreek powder,chillipowder  and mix well.
  • This pickle tastes good after a day or two.This goes well with rice especially curd rice and rotis too.

Note:

This pickle stays for  a week  if refrigerated.

Lemon pickle with urad dal is a simple yet delicious pickle recipe.I followed the recipes posted by Asha of Foodie’s hope and Anusha of Talimpu. Thanku Anusha and Asha for sharing this wonderful recipe .We are still enjoying this pickle…..

Ingredients:

  1. Lemons - 4
  2. Urad dal - 1 cup
  3. Red chillies - 4 to 5
  4. Mustard seeeds - 1tsp
  5. Oil for seasoning
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Hing - pinch

Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan add red chillies,after a while add urad dal and a pinch of hing fry them till the dal turns brown.
  • Cool the dal and grind it alobg with red chillies into a coarse powder.
  • Cut the lemon into thin pieces and add salt to it.
  • Now to this add ground urad dal powder and season with mustard seeds and oil.
  • This tastes delicious with rice or roti.
